Kevin Kelly is the Manager of two Academic Technology (AT) units – Online Teaching & Learning and Media & Distribution Services – at San Francisco State University (SF State). He teaches a class called "How 2 Lrn w ur iPod" to help students a) learn how to use over 30 technologies to facilitate learning improvement and b) include the student voice in the academic discussions about how to use technology for learning. He also has recently turned this class into separate workshops for high school students, teachers, and parents. Kevin is one of the lead editors of an soon-to-be-published book about eLearning (mobile, social, online, etc.) collaboratively authored by over 40 practitioners in 15 countries.

Otto Khera, Director, Center for Scholarly Technology, University of Southern California

Otto Khera is director of the Center for Scholarly Technology at the University of Southern California where he oversees a team of instructional designers, trainers, and instructional technology program managers. His group is part of the Office of the CIO, in the Technology-Enhanced Learning division, and is the front face and assessment and research unit of IT. Otto's research interests are in social media, mobile technology and identity management as enablers and disrupters of the prevailing and bounded classroom model. He is also an avid cyclist and adores San Diego County's many selections of extremely hoppy beers.

James Monaghan, Assistant Vice President for Academic Technologies and Distributed Learning, Cal State, San Bernardino

Dr. James Monaghan is Assistant Vice President for Academic Technologies and Distributed Learning and a tenured associate professor of instructional technology at Cal State, San Bernardino. He has spearheaded the development of a robust infrastructure for online learning which has enabled CSUSB to be one of the leaders in the CSU in online learning, offering nine degree programs. He has secured or managed over $7 Million in grants and contracts to support the development of technology initiatives. He has published research on the effects of academic technologies on students' cognition.

Michelle Pacansky-Brock, Educational Consultant

Michelle Pacansky-Brock is an educational consultant for Teaching Without Walls. Her past experience includes seven years as an art history professor at Sierra College, which fostered a passion for learning transformations through technology in support of student success. In 2007 she was awarded the Sloan-C Excellence in Online Teaching Award and a NISOD Award for Teaching Excellence and in 2010 she received a Sloan-C Effective Practice Award for her use of VoiceThread in online learning. Today, she maintains her commitment to online learning innovations as the Coordinator of the @One Online Teaching Certification program, teaching the Introduction to Online Teaching and Learning and Building Online Community with Social Media for @One, and serving as a higher education Thought Leader for GETideas.org, a Cisco Systems social responsibility project. Andrew Roderick, Manager of Technology Development, Academic Technology, San Francisco State University

Andrew Roderick is Technology Development Manager in Academic Technology at San Francisco State University. Roderick oversees technical operations for the university's Academic Technology unit, where he helps coordinate services such as learning management, digital repository, lecture capture, and online media delivery. In addition to managing the systems administration, software development, and user support teams, Roderick oversees a range of software development projects for a variety of clients including campus research groups, the California State University System, the Ford Foundation, and others. These projects focus on resolving academic, research and administrative needs using appropriate, effective, and cutting-edge methods. Roderick is a faculty member in the Department of Instructional Technologies in the College of Education at SF State, where he teaches technology courses.

Rob Rodgers is the Director of Educational Technology Systems at UCLA. A unit of the Office of Instructional Development, ETS manages all aspects of classroom technology and media support, including development and installation of equipment, course capture and webcasting, and audio visual delivery and consulting. Rob has been in his current role for over 8 years, previously he held management and advisory positions in finance, human resources, and classroom technology during his 20 years at UCLA. Rob has degrees in business, history and public administration, and in his off time enjoys model trains and wargaming.

Howard Story, Distance Education & Media Coordinator, El Camino College

After receiving his master's degree from Cornell University in 1972, Howard Story began his media career with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). During his 14 years at LACOE, Howard worked as a Media Aide, Media Technician and Media Specialist supporting faculty in the Divisions of Special Education and Court Schools. He also worked as adjunct faculty teaching in the TV & Media Communication program at El Camino College. In 1986 Howard accepted a position as Faculty Coordinator of Media Services at El Camino College. He has worked 24 years at El Camino and currently has responsibility for Distance Education, Campus wide AV Support, the College Cable Television Channel, and the media collection.

John Whitmer, Associate Director, CSU Systemwide LMS Services

John Whitmer is the Associate Director for the System-wide Learning Management Systems and Services Project for the California State University system. In this role, he manages the creation of policies, practices, and infrastructure that increase the effectiveness of these academic technologies for the 23-campus CSU system. John has previously directed academic technology projects for an NSF-funded cyberinfrastructure project and the California Community College system. He is particularly interested in distributed learning technologies, Academic Analytics, and student engagement. John holds a Master's Degree in Sociocultural Anthropology from UC Davis, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at UC Davis. In his spare time, John enjoys doing anything outdoors with his wife, son, and dog Pepper.
